Journey Galaxis: Update log.


I'm hard at work putting in many great adjustment to Journey Galaxis Anniversery update. Here are more of the bigger features to come. Remember that Journey Galaxis is a free game and any support is welcome to help this project remain that way.

Dynamic Footstep sounds:

One of the things RPG Maker VXAce lacks is adding footstep sounds. It wasn't something that was included as part of the engine design. In the next update you'll find that walking over different types of ground will activate footstep sounds. If you're wondering through the forest you'll hear the steps of stepping on leafy grass. When walking on bushy ground there will be different footstep sounds. Walk in to a shop and hear the steps of walking on a hard surface and stepping on carpets each step becomes softer. I have loved the inclusion of being able to add this type of feature to help the world feel more alive. I hope you will enjoy this in the next update!

Economic Selling Prices:

In Journey Galaxis the player travels to many different locations in the world. Some regions do better than others and a form of economics is now being introduced to Journey Galaxis which affect the selling prices of items. Visit a small town and the sell prices will be lower, or find a bustling city, and you'll find they will pay more money for your items. This new feature is something I have scripted as there is no way to set sell prices as standard. All of the buy prices are adjusted in this fashion and players will feel the impact of reduced sell prices, and may perhaps travel around to get the better prices for their hard gained items! 

Menu 1.4

The main menu screen will have a nice new look with the classic feel of the usual RPG Maker menu. I've made adjustments to my variation by applying slim HP and MP bars, removing the "Class" which has no affect on the game or character, and applying the cover art background for Journey Galaxis+2! 

Hard Mode:

Hard Mode will give a good challenge to those who seek that from an RPG. Here are some of the adjustments I have made so far.

  • Random Battles: When in most areas there is a chance that when walking over bushy ground there will be a random encounter. There is also a small chance to pick up an item when wondering over that type of ground.
  • When a party member is K.O'd in hard mode and the battle ends they will need to be revived unlike casual mode where they auto revive with 1HP. If all party members are wiped then each party member loses experience points, some gold is also lost as a result and all party members become injured which affects all of their stats. Injuries can only be recovered by staying at an Inn.
  • Less items are given when opening basket chests.

Inventory Increase.

In Journey Galaxis the amount of items is limited to 20 of any item. In the next update you will be able to raise it to 30. How will this be done? Well, I won't spoil a surprise that I feel many of you will really enjoy. 

Is that all?

There has been a lot more going on in the background such as correcting some battle sprites for the party members. Editing of some skills, and item adjustments. A full log is included with the update to show just how much has been updated and that also includes all of the update notes from previous editions.

Story.

The story is never adjusted with these updates. I completed Journey Galaxis almost 4 years ago and nothing needs to be changed. These updates are really to give better quality of life to Journey Galaxis to keep the flame going. I have poured a significant amount of time in to the project and have done my best to really nurture it and bring it back from the ashes. 

I really do this to say thank you to everyone who put their time in to the games previous iterations, and to say sorry to those I may have let down during the earliest releases of Journey Galaxis where the game was really not in a fit state. I wish things could have worked out better and I hope that Journey Galaxis as it is now is really enjoyed by many.

I'll be back with more on the release of the update. I have a ton of work to do and so please look forward to it arriving some time in December.

Journey Galaxis: Future Generations.

This has been my work since finishing Journey Galaxis 4 years ago when I moved to Unity engine. This isn't a direct sequel and is set far in to the future of the events of Journey Galaxis which will link the two games in some ways. I'll have more news on this in 2026.
